Change the menu

I am trying to change the menu so you can select a class directly.

main_nav.php:
<li><a class="url_search_class_1" href="{url_search_class_1}" title="Residential Sale">Residential Sale</a></li>
<li><a class="url_search_class_2" href="{url_search_class_2}" title="Residential Rent">Residential Rent</a></li>

How should I change the css so that:
- after selecting one of the above menu options it is 'active' (different color than the other menu options) (page index.php?action=search_step_2&pclass[]=X)
- even after searching it stays active (page index.php?action=searchresults&pclass[]=X)

Anyone?

I think I found the answer.

In the php code:
<body class=" search_step_2 pclass_1 ...>

so in the style.css it should say:
/*"You are here" for the main nav - This relies on the dynamic body classes*/
.pageid_1 #MainNav li a.Home, .pageid_3 #MainNav li a.About, .pclass_1 #MainNav li a.url_search_class_1, ....
